Who’s excited for St. Patrick’s Day? Rooster and Moon is excited, if you can’t already tell. Hmmm…what are some of the clues that make our St. Patty’s Day enthusiasm evident? Well for starters, this whole week’s menu specials are themed around this special day of the Irish. If you missed this post, miss it no longer by clicking here. Your mouth will water and you’ll be driven to distraction until you finally come in to savor these delicious Irish dishes.

Chicago River - St. Patty's Day Green

Our particular obsession with St. Patrick’s Day has something to do with the people that make up our Rooster and Moon family that serve you from behind the counter each day (that and it’s just a freaking great holiday). Some of Roosters used to live in Chicago where St. Patty’s Day means dyeing the Chicago River green, a tradition that started in 1961. The city is Irish loving year-round anyways, to the point that if there were to ever exist a “little Ireland” in the U.S., we believe it would be in Chicago.

You don’t have to go to Chicago though, to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day. Our beloved town of Denver goes all out for green occasion so that you have a lot to look forward to. Make sure to take part in the festivities. Imagine your day like this for an absolutely lucky day: Stop in at Rooster and Moon Coffee Pub to give us high fives and get delicious coffee and scrumptious breakfast. Our Irish coffee will do just the trick for getting you on a good start for the special day. We highly recommend and endorse that you walk, bike, or cab it (or all combined) for the day. And not just so you can enjoy libations all day and into the night, but also to avoid the hassle and expense of parking among the crowds that will exist.

D-Town on the Green Day

So like we were saying…get your toosh in gear with our coffee and haul it down to Lower Downtown (also known to Denver-ites as LoDo). You want to be in this part of town sometime before 10am, which is the kick-off for Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Starting at 27th and Blake, the parade makes its way down to 17th and then loops back around to take Wynkoop down to Park Avenue. After the parade, take advantage of the specials and live music that will be abounding. And of course stop by and see us again at Rooster and Moon for an Irish dish and more coffee. We bet you’ll really need it by then…
